M&S & Aldi, Liverpool

The Merseyside Society for Deaf People, owner of a former school site in the Liverpool suburb of Stoneycroft, was in urgent need of new facilities to meet the growing requirements of the charity. By selling part of the site, capital was released which allowed it to build a superb new 10,300 sq ft office with its own car park, whilst releasing the remainder of the site for redevelopment into retail use.

Expressions of interest were quickly received from both M&S Simply Food and Aldi, with contracts being exchanged in the summer of 2014. With the full backing of the local community, a 12,460 sq ft Simply Food unit and a 6,832 sq ft Aldi store, with shared parking for 112 cars and 20 cycles, soon took shape in the capable hand of Simons. Two years later in summer 2016, the entire transformation was complete along with road improvements. The whole area is now a thriving retail space with the new MSDP offices meeting the charities requirements.
