This 28,000 sq ft Waitrose store with parking for 200 cars took 60 weeks to complete and now trades successfully in Malmesbury, Wiltshire.
In order to complement its notable surroundings, Simons Design planned the shell with a curved roof and earth banking to ensure it would sit comfortably within the existing landscape and have minimal impact on the entrance to the historic town.
The Design team, along with Simons Developments, worked tirelessly to engage with the local community when, back in 2009, plans were first made to bring the store to Malmesbury. They worked closely with Waitrose, the town council, consultants and local planners, driving innovative community engagement activities which resulted in the planning being unanimously approved.
