Double award win for Simons Construction at National CCS Awards
Simons Group received two Silver National Site awards at this year’s Considerate Constructor Scheme (CCS) Awards. Hosted at nationwide events, these site awards account for the top 7% of all CCS registered sites across the UK.
The company’s project teams for Waitrose in Malmesbury and for Capital and Regional’s Waterside Shopping Centre in Lincoln were both recognised for their efforts, with both sites respectfully achieving and exceptional CCS score of 43/50 and the Waterside team achieving 10/10 for their health and safety efforts.
Feedback from the CCS monitor’s reports for Waitrose Malmesbury said the following:
“This is a truly excellent site to visit. Everything about it is well presented and professional. Communications with the local community are exceptional and the use of the newsletter and facebook page are great tools... There are mechanisms in place to promote and encourage improved safety, and many different forms of communication to provide information and to foster an environment for feedback from the workforce.“
“The site demonstrates its approach to equality and diversity, and the company clearly provides well for its employees and sub-contractors in terms of training... Excellent safety procedures in place, with many forums to enable sub-contractor involvement and feedback...“
Last year the company set and achieved an average target score of 41/50 for all major sites. As a proud Associate of the Considerate Constructor Scheme (CCS), Simons endeavours to host exemplary sites with genuine efforts made to be as considerate as possible. The nationwide project teams work to a set of guidelines that Simons has created in line with the CCS checklist, helping to support the teams with suggestions, information and ideas to help get involved with local communities, engage the supply chain and highlight their considerate behaviour.
