New health and safety initiative starts at simons group
Simons have announced the start of the company’s Behavioural Safety Leadership Programme, looking at further improving the company’s high standards of health and safety on all levels and at all locations.
The company are in the process of carrying out research via the 'HSL' (Health & Safety Laboratory) Climate Survey Tool where employees and site workers are able to anonymously share views on a number of structured statements. In July, there will be interviews with Consultants Lattitude, who are assisting with the programme. The research stage is to be completed by the end of September 2013, when the views will be used to help shape an exclusive training programme that will commence throughout the company.
Chairman Paul Hodgkinson is firmly behind the programme: "We must, as a Group, challenge the industry norm in favour of what can be achieved. It is imperative that we operate in an environment where all employees and fellow workers believe that care and well-being are paramount. I truly believe this forthcoming programme will greatly benefit the health, safety and welfare of all of our people and those that work with us."
Richard Davison of Consultants Lattitude was supportive of the commitment Simons have already shown: "It is a privilege to be involved in an initiative that clearly has such strong backing already. Our training sessions will be focussed on helping all develop a culture which supports people in behaving safely and taking the time to stop and think about how they will do a job safely, rather than take a risk. Ultimately, we are passionate in our belief that all injuries in the workplace are preventable and that, with hard work, commitment and co-operative teamwork, we can all play an important role in achieving that goal. We are looking forward to getting started with the planned sessions and getting to know everyone at Simons Group."
