Simons & Citygrove host ground breaking event in Ruislip
Simons and Citygrove have celebrated the start of construction on site at South Ruislip with an informal event forbusiness leaders, council members, team members and stakeholders from the project’s development phase.
Guests were shown around the site and discussed the construction plans coming up over mince pies, followed by a few words from Simons Group‘s Chief Executive Tom Robinson and Citygrove’s Chairman Toby Baines.
Tom Robinson, Chief Executive of Simons said, “I think these events are really important, as they symbolise a moment in time that in someways is the end of the beginning. We now take over control of the site for a period of time to take it to the next stage, a stage that everyone’s really excited about. We’re really, really proud to have been successful in winning the project and delivering it for Citygrove. It’s our first project with Citygrove, so we’re really excited about that too and it’s a fabulous scheme that will bring a huge amount to the area.“
Toby Baines, Chairman of Citygrove added, “We are absolutely delighted to be working with Simons here and looking forward now, on this part of the journey. The first part of the journey took us four years, and there are a lot of people here who really saw what we were trying to do and could see and supported that this derelict site needed to be regenerated. We can’t thank them enough. When this opens in 2017, it’s going to be a great scheme for Ruislip and we’re so looking forward to that.“
The works being carried out by Simons will take 60 weeks and include the construction of a new Asda store and petrol station, an 11 Screen cinema complex, along with 5 restaurant facilities. The scheme has extensive 278 Highway Alterations, along with reconfiguration of a neighbouring property’s retail park car park and minor works to other neighbouring commercial accesses.
