Simons Group carry out work for Citygrove in Ruislip
Simons have been named as the main contractor for part of a major development project for Citygrove in South Ruislip, London. The works being carried out by Simons will take 60 weeks, with a total scheme value of £25.8 million.
Works include the construction of a new Asda store and petrol station, an 11 Screen cinema complex, along with 5 restaurant facilities. The scheme has extensive 278 Highway Alterations, along with reconfiguration of a neighbouring property’s retail park car park and minor works to other neighbouring commercial accesses.
There are many complex considerations around the site. The site is split into two sections; retail and residential. Bellway Homes are running the residential side of the scheme, whilst Simons are carrying out the retail and leisure works. The scheme is being constructed beneath the main flight path of RAF Northolt where the planes will be around just 500ft from the level of the site when taking off or landing. Works are being carried out by Aviva on the adjoining retail site, so a great deal of collaboration will be required in the area.
Tom Robinson, Chief Executive of Simons said, “We are delighted to be working with Citygrove on this great scheme for Ruislip. Our team are experts complex retail and leisure schemes of this nature and I know we will deliver the project safely and swiftly, with minimal disruption to the local community. Our team are really looking forward to getting involved with local community projects and to helping local people whilst carrying out the works.“
Daemon Sheehan, Construction Director of Citygrove said, “We are extremely pleased to have appointed Simons to deliver our retail and leisure development at South Ruislip. The scheme has many constraints and challenges and Simons have shown an excellent understanding and planning of the works. The scheme includes many sustainable elements and will achieve a BRREEAM Very Good rating. We look forward to working with Simons and building our relationship with them.“ The team begin setting up on site from early November, with works beginning in the next few weeks.
