Simons Group have been named as the contractor for works being carried out for premium retailer Fenwick on their store at Brent Cross shopping Centre, London. Enabling works begin this week, with main construction due to start 5th May and due to complete in early February 2015.
The 42 week project will comprise of a rooftop extension which houses additional warehouse space and new staff offices; which will consequently create retail space on exisitng floors. Work will also include two lifts; a customer lift which will service all floors and a staff lift between the 3rd and 4th floor.
Paul Hodgkinson, Chairman of Simons said, “We are delighted to be working with Fenwick on their Brent Cross store. It is great to be working with Aukett Swanke again and we anticipate that this complex, live site refurbishment, at one of the UK's best known shopping centres, will mark the start of a long term relationship for us with Fenwick. We anticipate that the project will involve close teamwork and excellent coordination to ensure that the exciting new rooftop addition will not interfere with the live retailing environment, but will allow Fenwicks to continue to refresh its exciting retail offer, using our experienced retail fitout team."
Jenny O’Donoghue, Managing Director at Fenwick of Brent cross said of the works, “We are constantly looking for ways in which to improve and enhance the retail experience for our loyal Brent Cross customer, and we are excited about the refurbishment because ultimately it will increase existing retail space in childrenswear, cosmetics, womenswear, accessories as well as the restaurant. The construction will not affect store opening throughout the duration of the works, and trade will continue as normal.”
As an associate member of the Considerate Constructor Scheme, Simons will work with the retailer to ensure that all parties are kept fully informed on progress and possible disruption during the live project.
Both parties will be providing updates via Twitter. For the latest visuals and news from the project, keep an eye out @Simons_Group and for the latest news from the store @FenwickBrentX. This week saw the site being set up with a 100t crane lifting the scaffolding and site offices.
