Simons Groups 2013-14 Corporate Responsibility Report

We are incredibly proud to issue the annual corporate responsibility report, featuring targets and highlights measurable against the company's values.

Highlights include:

30% female workforce (against national average of 11% in construction)

An accident Incident Rate (AIR) score of 357, against a target of 600

Considerate Constructors score of 10/10 for innovative health and safety 99.7% of construction waste diverted from landfill

Carbon footprint reduced by 8%14 awards10% of employees gaining qualifications this year

654 course attendees for internal training programmesOver 1,500 trees planted with The Woodland Trust.

A minimum of 654 people reached via community projects

Charitable activity plays a key role at Simons. Alongside Simons Design's involvement with ProHelp across Lincolnshire, Simons Group have donated over £19,000 to charities across the UK. Donations have been made through the Peter and Gwyneth Hodgkinson Trust and the Corporate Sponsorship Panel, which have helped organisations including British Heart Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Research, along with lesser known organisations including the Handicapped Children's Association, LIVES and the Respite Association.

The company's levels of community engagement can be seen throughout the report, with feedback from across the country and best practice examples from across the company's activity. The report also includes further details on targets set last year, feedback across group activity, best practice case studies, along with the latest sustainability results and 2020 targets.

Speaking of the importance of corporate responsibility to Simons, Construction Director Phil Kennedy said, "It's the blueprint that we work to, ensuring that we create buildings that make a positive difference."
