Simons Groups & Cheshire Oaks short-listed for building magazine awards
Simons Group has been short-listed in the Contractor of the year (up to 300m) category for the 2013 Building Awards.
Chairman Paul Hodgkinson was thrilled with the news: “ Simons have achieved great successes within an incredibly tough economic climate in 2012. Our teams have been working throughout the UK on groundbreaking projects for our customers, so we really appreciate Building Magazine’s recognition of the hard work undertaken. The competition for this award is of an incredibly high standard, so we are honoured to be named among such accomplished companies.“
Building Awards also short-listed Marks and Spencer’s Cheshire Oaks eco-store for ’Sustainability Project of the Year’, further acknowledgement of the scheme’s sustainable credentials.
According to the organisers of the awards, Building Magazine received a phenomenal number of entries this year despite extremely tough trading conditions, making the judging process extremely difficult and even harder to select the finalists.
The nominated submission looks at the company’s highlights over the year alongside the completion of Cheshire Oaks; including a fit out for DFS’ flagship store on Tottenham Court Road, redevelopment of the Brotherhood Retail Park in Peterborough (which saw Simons Design win an award for Development & Environment Design), Grade II listed status for Markham Moor petrol station, a building constructed by the company in the 1960s, along with nationwide fit out programmes for Boots, DFS, M&S and Vodafone.
Winners are announced at an impressive ceremony taking place on Thursday 18th April at the Grosvenor House, London.
