Simons hosts 18th Supplier's Day to share best practice with supply chain

Simons Group have hosted their 18th annual Supplier’s Day at the company’s head office in Lincoln, with members of the company’s sustainability, health and safety, industrial, retail and healthcare teams collaborating with suppliers to share further develop on the company’s ‘Building Better‘ ethos. Attendees from over 50 businesses were given exclusive access to the Simons Group‘s current and future business plans, along with networking and knowledge sharing forums with the company’s owners, directors and teams from each business unit.

Each year the company celebrates best practice in its supply chain through their Supplier’s Awards. This year the winner was Cover Structures, a cladding business which has worked with Simons on projects in Stafford, Sheffield and London in the last year alone.  Cover Structures, a fellow family business established in 1992, was taken over by second generation family member Gavin Quinlain 4 years ago.

Gavin said of the award, “We are honoured to have won this award. This award means a great deal to us as recognition of our efforts brings with it a boost to morale and reiteration that we are carrying out tasks with efficiency and professionalism and not to mention the confidence that Simons Construction have with our Cover Structures to undertake major projects and hence hopefully securing future contracts. Major projects are hugely dependent on getting the logistics set up correctly and Simons Construction have been instrumental in ensuring we work together as a team to deliver the build, both in design and on site.“

Tom Robinson, Chief Executive of Simons Group said of the day “This is our 18th Supplier’s Day and my third in post, so it is a pleasure to see the relationships we have firmly in place and delivering truly great work. We need suppliers that reflect our values, our brand so it is imperative that we work with people that we know and trust to provide a reliable legacy for all stakeholders, which we hope shows in days like these. I am delighted for Gavin and all the team at Cover Structures; they have a phenomenal story behind them and I am confident in the future ahead of them. I am already looking forward to celebrating even more great work and great relationships at the 19th Supplier’s Day in 2017."
