Simons Project Managers shortlisted for Construction Manager of the Year Awards

Two project managers from Simons Group have been named as finalist at this year’s Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA).

Marat Mugttinov has been recognised in the ‘New Build and Refurbishment - Between £3-5 million‘ category for leading the Simons Construction team throughout the extension work for AG Barr at their industrial facility at Magna Park in Milton Keynes, which Simons initially built in 2013.

Tim Green has been shortlisted in the ‘New Build and Refurbishment - Between £14-20 million’ category for his leadership throughout the project for Nuffield Health in Cambridge, managing the build of a new hospital on their current site on Trumpington Road, all whilst the old hospital building was in full use.

Incidentally, both were shortlisted at Simons Group‘s internal Recognition Awards this year for ‘Operating in a safe and healthy way’.

Marat Mugttinov said of the nomination, “I want to sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am so excited that I have been nominated as a CMYA finalist, knowing that there were many qualified and experienced applicants. I sincerely appreciate Simons Construction, working in such a positive environment and for helping me identify my skills and strengths. Also, I would like to take this opportunity of sending a big thank you to my friends and colleagues; thank you for your support and help!“

Tim Green said of the news, “ I am incredibly proud to have reached the finalist stage of the CMYA.  I have enjoyed leading a very dedicated and committed team at Simons to deliver a first class building.  The new hospital will treat patients for many years to come and it is a testament to the ethos and culture we have in our organisation that we have been able to work together to complete such a succesful project.“

Mark Holden, Group Director of Construction at Simons Group said, “Our warm thanks and congratulations to both Tim and Marat and the teams that have supported them to be ambassadors for Simons Group and our valued customers. Two of our core values are ‘Being Performance Driven‘ and ‘Having the Right People Doing the Right Things‘; we are delighted that both Tim and Marat have been personally recognised for doing just this. We look forward to celebrating their success at the awards in September and it’s safe to say that everyone at Simons will have their  fingers crossed for both of them!“

The CMYA has been run by the Chartered Institute of Building for 40 years, with 12 winners announced across the 12 categories and an overall Construction Manager of the Year. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in September.
